Edgard Corona: The Entrepreneur Behind Smart Fit’s Success

 In the highly competitive fitness industry,
Edgard Corona stands out as a visionary entrepreneur and the driving force
behind Smart Fit’s remarkable success. As the owner and founder of Smart Fit,
Corona has revolut ionized the fitness landscape in Brazil and beyond. 

With a degree in Chemical Engineering from the
Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), Corona’s entrepreneurial journey
began while still in college. H e started businesses ranging from a materials
analysis laboratory to his own clothing stores. However, it was in 1996 that he
decided to venture into the fitness industry and opened the first Bio Ritmo gym
in Santo Amaro. 

Despite facing initial challenges and setbacks,
Corona remained undeterred. He immersed himself in the business, learning from
his mistakes and refining his management approach . Determined to innovate,
Corona sought inspiration from successful fitness businesses worldwide,
incorporating best practices into his own gym. 

His breakthrough came with the opening of a Bio
Ritmo branch on Avenida Paulista. This strategic move targeted busy individuals
with limited time for exercise and offered a unique fitness experience . The
concept struck a chord with the public, leading to the rapid expansion of Bio
Ritmo gyms across the country. 

But Corona’s appetite for growth didn’t stop
there. He actively attended international fitness conferences, engaging with
industry leaders and seeking new  ideas. In 2008, he introduced a new fitness
model with the launch of Smart Fit. This innovative approach focused on
accessibility and affordability, making high-quality fitness accessible to a
broader audience. 

Today, Smart Fit has become a household name in
Latin America, with Corona’s leadership propelling the company to new heights.
His entrepreneurial acumen and commitment to democratizing fitness have earned
him recognition as one of the region’s top fitness entrepreneurs.  

In a recent move, Smart Fit went public on the
Brazilian Stock Exchange, raising funds to suppo rt future growth and expansion.
The company’s continued success lies in its strategic initiatives, including
potential acquisitions and investments to further strengthen its position in
the 13 Latin American countries where it operates.
